A Feeling of DEFEAT!

Image
My house is quiet except for the faint volume of the Television that Bill is watching in the other room. I have 2 babies that are both sick, therefore my house being quiet is a miracle. Oh wait, I spoke to soon.... The sound of a cry just came from the Twins room. The real question now, is.... who will get up first to get the little man??? Looks like me! Isnt it funny that when both parents are home, the mother is always the one that "should" get up first??? Not always, but pretty darn close.  Well in this case, with a little help from the Hubby, both twins are situated and fast asleep once again... Bill "My Hubby" & Preston This whole kids being sick thing is for the birds. Not only do I feel horrible for my little loves who are sick but I also feel helpless since I cant take the sickness away. Selfishly... I'M TIRED! I feel like it wears me thin. On a "Normal" day I feel like I can conquer the world, 4 kids.... I laugh in the face of 4 kid...

FREAK OUT or NOT some of MY Truths about FEVERS!

Image
Just in the past 48 hours, I have gotten text and emails by 3 different people about this one topic... FEVERS! What to do? What NOT to do? So here's MY Nitty Gritty Truth about Fevers! It seems that this question is coming at a perfect time, as my babies Juliana and Parker are both struggling with fevers themselves. Here is my take on fevers. Have you ever heard the expression, "Fevers are our FRIENDS?" yeah, they are.... until they AREN'T! In my opinion, Fevers are very important. They tell us that our bodies are under attack and that we are trying to fend off, some sort of funk! Here's what I find that most parents do when their child has a fever.... FREAK OUT! Let me ask you a question, REALLY???? Do you really think now is the time to have a Freak Out session???? I am going to go with NO! It's NOT! Having four children, Violet (5 years old), Preston (4 years old) & The Twins, Juliana & Parker (10 months young).... I have seen many fevers in...

What I WISH I KNEW before LABOR!!

I get a lot of questions all the time about my deliveries. I am sharing some of the realizations that I came to AFTER I gave birth to 4 children... (would have been nice to know BEFORE I gave birth at all.) Mommy and Daddy - about to meet our Twins  (Juliana vaginal birth, Parker emergency C-Section) You don't know what you don't know! If you don't have someone who can help you through your delivery (by asking the right questions etc..), you may think that you are having a "NORMAL" experience. I wish that I would have known everything that I list below, before I went in to labor with Violet, Preston and my Twins, Juliana and Parker. I didn't realize all this golden information until I was actually apart of a delivery, but NOT the one delivering. Mommy and Preston Lea- Sept 27th, 2008 So here's MY Nitty Gritty Truth on child birth and some things that I think EVERYONE should know before they walk into that hospital. (and if you don't lik...

I am just feeling like right now I am in need of a little serenity.... That's why I added the beautiful photo above of Sarasota/ Siesta Key Sunset. Always makes me feel calmer. Preston, Juliana, Violet & Parker   I have had all 4 kids home with me this week and I am starting to question some of my life choices. I feel like this week I have had a real opportunity to reflect on what IS working, HAS worked and what can I CHANGE to get working? I feel like right now I have a good system with the kiddos. We have started some new techniques. Working on focusing on positive ways to act and trying to reward behavior opposed to always be disciplining and we have implemented "THE WEISER WAY." (More to come on this...) VilyCakes & Papa Bear - March 2012 I had a friend ask me about Violet and how I handle her during a situation of her not obeying and I told her, well I put her in Time Out. But that wasn't the full truth. That was something that...
