MY Hubs ROCKED it & Parker (showing signs of Respiratory Distress)

Today I woke up just as if it were any other day. Bill made breakfast for himself and Violet. Violet was up and getting dressed, Preston was still sleeping and the babies were in their high chairs waiting for Mommy to feed them breakfast. We seem to have a pretty good system in the morning. Bill is awesome when it comes to helping & getting the day going. He always gets up with Violet, helps her get ready for school. He also gets the babies up and changed and ready for the day. I feed the babies, make Violet's lunch, make sure that all of her school stuff is ready, last minute we wake Preston and then WE ALL, leave the house at the same time. Bill helps pack the kids in the car, we give our daily good-bye kisses, wish Daddy a good day at work... and we are all off! I am off with the 4 kiddos and we are on our way to drop big sister off at school! Preston and the twins and I come back to the house... and do what we do. (more to come on that... in the future)

Here's MY Nitty Gritty Truth on How Much MY Husband ROCKED it today & Signs of Respiratory Distress in Babies...

Parker James & Daddy, Nov 2012

***Men, Take Note***
Usually I am on point. I have my days pretty much mapped out and I get what I need to get done. A lot of Mother's ask me all the time, "Anne, How Do YOU DO IT!"  Well, it's all about "Time-Management." Right??? Well at least that's what Bill would say. Today though, HE MANNED UP! Momma had a rough morning, while dropping Violet off at school, I felt a knot in my stomach. I could tell that today may not be one of my better, more accomplished days. I felt like I was going to get sick. What??? Get sick! That's not in my JOB description. I don't get SICK DAYS! I made it home and then, it happened... Mama, had to call in DADDY! I called Bill and told him, "You have to come home, Mama is sick.... and these kids aren't gonna take care of themselves." He came to my rescue!

I snuggled in my room while I listened to everything else that was going on in the house. I hear some 80's music jamming, the vacuum going a couple times, then the shark steamer starts to go, I hear Preston playing nicely, the Twins seemed to be HAPPY... This is AWESOME (I am thinking to myself.) I am just gonna do it. I am gonna officially take this SICK day! I am not going to worry about every little detail, he sounds like he has it ALL under control, I am just going to let him do his thing!

Right now, I am feeling a HUGE sense of APPRECIATION for my hubby. He came home and not only kicked butt at taking care of the 3 kids that were home, but he also picked up and cleaned the house too. In my blog about "Healthy Competition" I mention that Bill and I are so similar in many ways (this is ONE of those ways!) We both like a CLEAN and ORGANIZED HOME. So the fact that I had to be down for the count today and I could count on him, really means a lot! There will be plenty of times were I am writing about things he does that annoys me etc, so I am taking this time to show GRATITUDE. There is nothing better than having an amazing husband and father who comes home, takes care of the kids and the house, so that Mama can rest and get better!

You ROCK Babe!
Violet & Preston - Nov 2012

Moving on, Today since I wasn't really around the kids all day, when I came out to be with the Twins while Bill and Preston went to go pick Violet up from school, I noticed that Parker seemed to be breathing heavy. I have had many of these breathing deals with Preston in the past, so I started to watch Parker closely. When "watching him" I mean I was looking for all of the symptoms that could mean that he is in RESPIRATORY Distress.

First pull up babies shirt and look at the rib area, it if looks like between the ribs that it is "pulling" call the doc. Right at the neck line, if their little necks are pulling in, call your doc. A chesty cough (which he didn't have) but its a symptom of a possible Respiratory distress with little babies. One of the more obvious ones is any discoloring in the face or chest area, blueish or deep red means that they could be in distress. OH and Grunting & Wheezing... Any of those signs, I would call the doc immediately or visit the ER, depending on time of day.

I watched, I noticed Parker pulling in the rib area, the neck was caving in a little when he was breathing, he was grunting, he was wheezing... So since I had the breathing treatment stuff here with me (and I have given a breathing treatment before), I decided to give him a breathing treatment. Then I called the doc immediately.... They told me to bring Parker in immediately. They wanted to check his pulse ox, listen to his lungs etc... So within 10 minutes of our conversation, I had MY little man in their office. They checked him out and told me that everything looks good. They told me that the breathing treatment that I gave him seemed to work. He is now on doctor recommended breathing treatments every 4 hours until Friday. Our Pediatrician told me that I did the right thing, if I didn't give him the breathing treatment, we would have possibly been on the way to the ER for observation. Tonight,  I see such a HUGE Difference already in his behavior. He seems to be relaxed now and at ease!!! When it comes to breathing problems, I don't take any chances. Babies can go from bad to worse very quickly. I would rather be safe and be able to give breathing treatments to my littles in the comfort of our home, opposed to thinking that "They'll be fine" and ending up with a hospital visit and/or stay.

MY little Buddy - SLEEPING <3

Don't be afraid to call you doctor. I have them on speed dial and they know it. I call when I NEED to, then in the summer when things calm down... They won't hear from me at all. I am not afraid to call when I truly believe that I need them to take a look at one of my littles.

I often get questions on the signs that one would look for when their child may be in RESPIRATORY DISTRESS. I re-lived it again so it's fresh on the brain, therefore I figured it would be the perfect time to share!

I hope this is HELPFUL.

That's MY Nitty Gritty Truth,
Anne
